Our mission, objectives and specific aims


Our mission is to:

  • To be recognised as an organisation which has children and young people at the core of all our activities and to be an organisation that is constantly seeking new ways of achieving our aims.

  • To be excellent in everything we do; our services, relationships, training, education and governance.


Our objectives are:

  • To provide drop-in access to a safe space where support, advice and information is offered to young people across a range of issues affecting their lives

  • To offer stimulating and challenging play opportunities after school, at weekends and school holidays focusing mainly on under 12’s.

  • To offer information and advice using methods appropriate to the needs of young people, including Internet access, one-to-one sessions, interactive group-work, outreach and confidential referrals to specialist services

  • To provide opportunities to children and young people to progress through offering varied volunteering opportunities including working with a younger age group.

  • To involve young people in the running and management of projects, encouraging participation, ownership and responsibility

  • To support, supervise and train paid and volunteer play and youth workers to staff projects.

  • To raise money for a capital project – a purpose built base on the Sevenfields site.

  • To work in partnership with other agencies in order to access the best quality support services for young people from a diverse range of sources

  • To ensure effective and accountable management of the organisation according to its constitution, policies and procedures

  • To secure adequate funding to cover costs of all core work and project development

  • To monitor and evaluate the service in a variety of ways giving as full a picture as possible of both service provision and organisational development


Our Specific aims are:

  • To empower children and young people to make choices about the way they live their lives.

  • To improve children and young people’s self-esteem, confidence, social skills and ability to form positive relationships.

  • To increase young people’s awareness of issues and dangers they may face in order that they can be safe

  • To increase children and young people’s awareness of the effects of anti-social behaviour and crime in order to reduce its incidence.

  • To improve the physical and mental health of children and young people.

  • To reduce the incidence of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and unplanned teenage conceptions.

  • To encourage children and young people to actively participate in community life and take on the responsibilities of citizenship.
